MARINE CIVIL ENGINEERS
LIVERPOOL DOCKS
A marine civil engineering company was undertaking some demolition works at Liverpool dock on the new Isle of man ferry terminal.
They had the complex task of cutting out a set of old Lock gates that were over 100 years old.
We teamed up with them and helped them cut out the gates using exothermic cutting Lances.
Once the gates were Demolished, the contractor could then install a huge Link-span to connect the vehicles to the ferry and vice versa.
STRUCTURAL CODED WELDING
BLACKPOOL TOWER
As with all similar structures of that age, Blackpool Tower needs to be looked after and sometimes remedial work needs to be undertaken. RP Welding ltd was tasked with undertaking some remedial work for a leading contractor at Blackpool Tower.
It was a very difficult job as it took place inside an enclosed area that was difficult to get to and tricky to work within.
The standard needed was, of course, exceptionally high and to a specific certification – BS EN ISO standard. They needed our expertise. The result is that the contractor has peace of mind, knowing that our quality work will stand the test of time.
NETWORK RAIL
MAINLINE EMBANKMENT
On this project RP Welding Ltd worked alongside other specialist companies to repair a slipped railway embankment. The issue for Network Rail was that, while the line was clear and trains were moving, it was a mainline service and the trains could not run at 100% normal speed going past this problem. There were delays for commuters and services were impacted.
RP Welding Supplied Multi skilled welders to help with this project, our guys were not only coded welders to the highest of standard but also CPCS slinger/signallers and IPAF 3A & 3B certified with experience and knowledge in this field (Piling). The result from this was the complex project was finished within budget and on time and the mainline is now back fully functional.
DREDGING COMPANY
RIVER DREDGING
A marine based company was in need of some modifications to a pontoon that was due to be sent out on a dredging project. They contacted us at RP Welding to complete this task for them which was welding some heavy duty shackle points to the deck of the pontoon. These shackle points would then be used to secure a 30 tonne Long Reach excavator to stop it from spragging around or worst case Fall Off the pontoon into the river! The Sea fasteners were welded to a very high spec and the Long reach was solid while dredging!
Once the dredging works were complete RP Welding returned to remove the sea fasteners so the excavator could be removed from the pontoon and the pontoons dismantled and off hired.
